SOAKED!

Pics from the race were posted today. Here's a fun one of me closing in on the finish line. You can tell by my clothing that we got soaked by the rain!!

You also might notice that my fist is almost completely obscuring an Iowa Hawkeye logo. Had to represent.

5k in the RAIN

We are experiencing a bout of lovely Santa Barbara "winter" weather- which basically means the"rainy season". Unfortunately, this morning was a particularly rainy one- which would have been nice if I could sleep in BUT my boss (Tracey) and I signed up for a 5k!!

The 5k was called "Roses to La Playa". We started at 8:00 AM in the POURING RAIN!! We ran down State st. from Pedregosa to the finish line at Ledbetter Beach. Here's a look at the hoopla at the finish line:

It actually wasn't that bad and the run felt really good. I finished in 28:16 which is pretty good for me. Here's a couple pictures- one of Tracey and I and one with our other co-worker who also ran it- but not with us. You'll notice that we are SOAKED and my shirt in particular seemed to grow when wet!

Justin and I are hoping to run a 10 mile race in April, and then maybe the Bix when we are home in July!

We spent the afternoon with our homegroup at El Capitan State Park. Brett (one of the guys in the group) had reserved a couple of campsites for two nights. We just went out for the afternoon but we were very impressed- check out the site: (and yes, that's the ocean just past the trees there).

Below are some of the homegroupies- a view from the campsite:

This video below is of Johnny (Chris and Krista's youngest) throwing orange peels in the fire. He's probably one of the cutest 3 year old's I've ever met.

In this video Justin is helping Johnny with his shooting skills. I love the excitement he has when he makes a basket!

Here's a picture of Brett- the guy who booked the campsites- in a tree!

And last but not least- a group of us at the picnic table at the campsite. It was a really fun afternoon!

Snow!

So I'm actually kinda late on this BUT last week there was SNOW in the mountains here! I was kind of a big deal around town so I tried to get a picture from my car window! Nothing like home, but still, kind of cool to see a palm tree and then snow-capped mountains in the background!
