So Long Rockstar.... Helloo Spicy!

Softshare is taking this "healthy" stuff to a whole new level. Just when you thought it was safe to be a caffeine addict- VP put the kaibosh on....gasp....the Rockstar.

To make things worse, the one energy drink we are still allowed (Enviga- a green tea energy drink- silly Californians) was NOT delivered as scheduled today (the Coca-Cola company kinda stinks at customer service). But, thankfully, the 4 different kinds of V8 WERE.

I know what you're thinking- 4 different kinds of V8?? Well, in case you didn't know, V8 makes several "fruit/vegetable" juices that have fruit flavors. Softshare is currently stocking Blueberry/Pomegranate V8 as well as Peach/Mango v8. 160 calories, 2 servings of fruits and vegetables!! We also stock the regular V8 veggie and, of course, my personal favorite.... the SPICY!!

As a fan of the Bloody Mary on occasion, the V8 SPICY is quite a treat. I need to start bringing in green olives and a dill pickle spear so that I can close my eyes and pretend I'm @ Quinton's in IC!!

In other news- I start my new job at Softshare on Thursday. I am looking forward to learning tons of new stuff over the next couple of weeks. I have until May 23 before my predecessor moves to Portland, so I have a lot to soak in as quickly as possible. I am looking forward to being in an office with two Nutter-Butter loving gentleman. As my family knows, I am not one to turn down a Nutter-Butter, so I will fit right in.

Lookin' Good

Wow, Seriously. I mean, I know 10 miles is a long way, but do I have to look this hideous??! I look like I'm about to keel over! I seriously think that at the time, I felt better than I looked!

For the first time in a long time I realized the blessing that is my mother-in-law's delicious post-Bix feast. My mother-in-law always cooks this huge feast after the Bix and since I haven't run it since 2002 I had forgotten how important it is! After this 10 miler I was seriously missing having someone to cook a feast for us! I literally came home, took a shower, and passed out. Exhaustion! I am proud to say that we did it in 90 minutes, my awesome husband stayed with me the entire time (broken thumb to boot!) and I never even thought of stopping to walk. But I sure do miss 'Nita's pancakes!!!

OUCH!

Justin broke his thumb playing basketball. A week and a half later he decided to go to the doctor. The doctor was concerned and sent him to a hand specialist. The hand specialist prescribed surgery. The result is this:
He's a trooper though. He doesn't complain EVER and he ran 7 miles yesterday with this silly cast on and is planning on running the 10 mile race this weekend with it on. It's kind of motivating for me. I feel like, if my husband can run it with a broken thumb and a cumbersome cast then how can I complain??!

Hermit Weekend

It's true what they say- that you become more like your spouse the longer you are together. I used to tease Justin when we were dating that he was a "hermit" because he often preferred staying home to going out. This weekend I was the one who suggested the "Hermit Weekend". We're so busy during the week and last weekend we went camping, so I just needed time at HOME doing nothing but RELAXING!! It was one of the best weekends I've had in a while and I feel very rested!! Yay!

Friday night we got take-out from the Habit and watched a movie. Justin was teasing me b/c I was especially tender-hearted that evening- I got teary when the Habit people weren't very patient with a special-needs gentleman- I HATE that!! So we chatted him up a little while we waited for our food. And then I cried all the way through "Dan in Real Life" which is supposed to be "funny and touching" but I found it very upsetting. I mean, it's not funny that he's a widower and his daughters are just horrible sometimes!! I thought it was very sad and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I literally cried all the way through...

Saturday we did laundry and watched basketball- some friends came over to watch UCLA lose. And then we were stunned to see UNC get trounced. My bracket is now officially in the garbage!

Today I ran 6 miles (we have that 10 mile rice in less than 3 weeks... yikes!) and then we went to church- our first outing since Friday night's trip to the Habit!

Yes, being a hermit was quite wonderful! Back to work tomorrow. And I'm ok with that! :)
